The experience

The day starts with a 15-kilometer drive from Moshi town into the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, where the air cools and the landscape turns green. The 45-minute hike to Materuni Thundering Waterfalls follows paths between banana and coffee farms, climbing to where the waterfall drops at the village's edge. You return to a local home for the coffee experience: watch how beans are dried, roasted and processed, then grind and brew your own cup and taste it while sitting with the family who grew it.

The afternoon shifts to Moshi town itself. A guide walks you through the market and neighborhoods to show how the town was founded and how people of different religions, ethnicities and backgrounds live side by side. The day ends at one of the town's rooftop bars, where you can order a drink and watch the light change over Moshi and, if the sky is clear, see Mount Kilimanjaro from above the town.
