Step-by-step itinerary
Wildlife safari, waterfall hike, and coffee tour

- Swim in natural pool at waterfall
- Enjoy traditional Chagga lunch

The experience
Eight to ten hours means you start early and finish by late afternoon, leaving the evening free. The day opens at Serval Wildlife, an eco-resort and conservation sanctuary in the Kilimanjaro foothills, where you walk alongside giraffes, zebras and other rescued animals with a local guide who explains the conservation work. This is not a vehicle safari. You're on foot, moving at a pace that lets you observe and photograph without rushing.
From there the route climbs into Materuni Village on the lush slopes above Moshi. A guide leads you on foot to the 80-meter Materuni Waterfall, where the pool below stays clear and cold year-round. You swim here, and if you stay still, tiny fish will circle your legs. A small, harmless detail that makes the moment memorable. After the swim, you eat a traditional Chagga lunch prepared locally, then move into the coffee-making experience. You roast, grind and brew coffee by hand using methods the village has used for generations, and local guides share songs and stories while you work. This is participation, not observation.
Before heading back to Moshi, the tour stops at Chemka Hot Springs, a natural oasis ringed with palm trees where the water stays warm and mineral-rich. You can soak and swim here to ease muscles tired from the morning hike. A luxury vehicle handles all transport between stops, and the driver includes water, beer and soft drinks throughout the day. Lunch is provided. You bring only what you need for a swim and a walk.
