The Experience

We tumbled into the van outside our Taipei hotel just after breakfast—still clutching coffee cups, honestly. Our driver, Mr. Chen, greeted us with a quiet “早安” and a little bow. Pingxi Branch Rail Line felt like another world—quiet except when the train rattled through right down the middle of Shifen Old Street. We bought a sky lantern (the shop lady handed us markers to write wishes; mine looked like a toddler did it). When we let it go, everyone cheered even though ours wobbled sideways before catching the wind properly.
