This private tour from Taipei visits four destinations north and east of the city: Shifen Waterfall, the Pingxi Branch Rail Line, Yehliu Geopark and Jiufen old street. An English or Chinese-speaking driver picks you up, handles the route and parking, and accompanies you at each stop for ten hours. Groups of up to four or eight travelers choose their vehicle size at checkout, and the tour includes bottled water, air-conditioned transport and all fuel and parking fees — Yehliu's entrance fee is separate.

The Experience

You're picked up from your Taipei hotel or the airport and driven north to Shifen Waterfall, often called the Little Niagara of Taiwan. The driver waits while you walk to the falls and take photos; the chauffeur can assist with shots if you want them. From there, the route heads to the Pingxi Branch Rail Line, a historic railway town where you explore local shops and the narrow streets. The famous sky lantern tradition happens here, though releasing one costs extra and is optional — the driver can point you toward vendors if you want to try it.

After Pingxi, you drive to Yehliu Geopark on the coast, where the entrance fee is NT$120 per person. The geopark's signature feature is the Queen's Head, a rock formation shaped by erosion over millennia, along with dozens of other sculpted stones rising from the water. Lunch is included here. The driver stays with the group and can help navigate the boardwalks and point out the best angles for photos. On the return toward Taipei, you stop at a golden-colored waterfall created by mineral deposits in the rock, then finish at Jiufen old street, a charming mountain neighborhood famous for traditional teahouses, local snacks and lantern-lit alleys. The whole day runs ten hours from pickup to drop-off.

The vehicle is air-conditioned and carries either four or eight passengers depending on which option you book. Your driver has basic English skills and can communicate with locals on your behalf, which removes the usual language barrier at shops and restaurants.
