The experience
Six hours means you cover real ground without the fatigue of a full day. The route takes you through four distinct landscapes (dense jungle, wide open plains, rocky terrain and peaceful lagoons) each one a different habitat where wildlife congregates. A private jeep seats your group alone, so the driver can stop when animals appear and position for the best view without waiting for other vehicles to move. Breakfast and bottled water travel with you, so you eat before the drive or refuel during it without leaving the park.
The guide is a local who reads animal behavior and knows where to find leopards, elephants and sloth bears by season and time of day. You are not watching a demonstration. You are hunting for living animals in their habitat, which means some drives yield sightings and others do not. The pacing is deliberate (long quiet stretches punctuated by stops when movement catches the eye), so you have time to photograph, sketch or simply watch. Crocodiles bask by the water's edge, and the birdlife runs to species most travelers never name. The guide explains what you are seeing and why it matters to the ecosystem.
Sunrise and sunset departures are both available, each one timed to when the park comes alive. Early morning means cooler temperatures and animals moving to feed. Late afternoon catches the light turning gold and the nocturnal species beginning to stir. Book your preferred time at checkout, and confirm pickup with your hotel the evening before.

Is this one for you?Book the sunrise departure if you want the coolest temperatures and the best chance of spotting animals on the move. The sunset option suits travelers who prefer an afternoon start and the dramatic light of golden hour. Children from age 6 are welcome, though the rough terrain and long stretches of waiting for wildlife mean younger children may find it tiring.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 11 years). Children under 6 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What wildlife am I most likely to see in Yala National Park?
Leopards, elephants, sloth bears and crocodiles are the main draws, and the guide knows where each species tends to rest or hunt by season. Birdlife is constant, colorful species throughout the day, and smaller mammals appear in the grass and rocky outcrops. Sightings are never guaranteed because the animals are wild and free to move, but the guide's local knowledge and the private jeep give you the best odds.
Do I need to bring my own camera or binoculars?
The tour does not include camera gear or binoculars, so bring your own if you want them. A smartphone camera works for distant animals, but binoculars let you see detail and behavior that make the experience richer. The guide can point you toward movement you might miss with the naked eye.
How much walking is involved in this safari?
The tour is a game drive, so most of the time you are seated in the jeep. You may step out briefly at stops to stretch or photograph from a better angle, but there is no hiking or long walks away from the vehicle. The terrain you travel is rough in places, so the jeep does the work of getting you there.
What time does the safari start, and when do I need to be ready?
You choose either a sunrise or sunset departure at checkout. Sunrise means pickup before dawn so you enter the park as light breaks. Sunset means an afternoon pickup. Confirm the exact time with your hotel the evening before, and have water and any personal items ready when the jeep arrives.
Is the Yala National Park entrance fee included in the tour price?
The entrance ticket is not included. You purchase it directly at the Yala National Park entrance when you arrive. The guide will direct you through the process, and the cost is separate from the tour price.
