The experience

The jeep leaves your hotel early, when Yala's animals are moving. Your driver knows the park's routes well enough to read where leopards and elephants are likely to be, and the tour is built around finding them, not just passing through. You'll have binoculars at hand and a guide who speaks English, so you can ask what you're seeing and understand the animals' behavior as it unfolds. Sloth bears, crocodiles, sambar deer, water buffalo and a range of birds all live here, and the driver's job is to position you where the day's wildlife is active.

A Sri Lankan breakfast with fresh fruit waits for you before or after the drive, depending on the timing of your departure. Bottled water keeps you hydrated across the five to seven hours in the jeep. The park entry ticket (13,000 LKR or 40 USD per person) is separate and payable on arrival.
