The experience

You get picked up at Colombo airport and travel in a fully air-conditioned vehicle (a car, small van or large van depending on your group size) with a driver-guide who speaks English and stays with you for both days. The 300 km allowance covers substantial ground across Sri Lanka. If you go beyond that, excess mileage runs at USD 0.26 per km for the car, USD 0.30 for the small van and USD 0.35 for the large van. The operator is happy to sketch an itinerary with you beforehand or let you decide on the fly.

What's included: fuel, highway tolls, parking, the guide's salary and his meals and accommodation, plus government taxes. You pay separately for your own food, drinks and lodging, and gratuities to the driver-guide are optional. The vehicle comes with specialized infant seats if you need one. The route is yours to shape (whether that means heading inland to tea plantations, following the coast, or mixing both), and the driver-guide provides context at each stop without dictating the day.

On day two, the driver takes you back to the airport at the time you choose, so the return journey fits your flight. This works for any fitness level, and the setup scales: a couple or small family books the car. A larger group takes the van.

You design it. The operator offers to help sketch an itinerary beforehand and fine-tune it with you, or you can decide your stops as you go. The driver-guide provides knowledge about the sights you visit but follows your choices on where to go.

Does the price change based on the size of vehicle I choose?

Yes. A car fits one to three adults with two large bags; a small van holds one to five adults with baggage; a large van seats one to eight adults with baggage. Each has its own mileage rate for any distance over 300 km, so choose the vehicle that fits your group size.

How does the airport pickup and drop-off work?

The driver-guide meets you at Colombo airport on day one and takes you to your first destination. On day two, you tell the driver what time you need to be back at the airport, and he drops you there in time for your flight.
