The pace is set by what each place asks of you: early mornings for Sigiriya's rock climb and the Nine Arch Bridge's train crossing, afternoons for Ayurvedic massage in Dambulla, a scenic train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella through tea plantations, and a safari in Yala before the coast pulls you south.

The guide stays with you throughout, speaking English, Spanish, Italian, French or one of seven other languages, and knows the quiet stops: the village lunch cooked in front of you after a bullock cart ride, the secret vantage points for the Nine Arch Bridge at sunrise, the tea estates where you learn leaf to cup. The tour also includes a safari in Yala National Park on Day 10, where leopards, elephants, and crocodiles are among the wildlife you may encounter.

How does the train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella work?

On Day 8, your guide drops you at Nuwara Eliya station for a first-class train journey to Ella, one of the world's most scenic rail routes, passing through tea plantations and mountain valleys. Your guide meets you again in Ella to continue the tour, so you travel the route independently but with the itinerary planned around it.

What happens on the beach days in Mirissa and Unawatuna?

Mirissa (Day 10) is a laid-back beach stop where you swim, rest, and visit Coconut Tree Hill and Dondra Head Lighthouse. Unawatuna (Day 12) is a leisure day after exploring Galle Fort's UNESCO ramparts, colonial architecture, and lighthouse. Both are built for you to slow down after the inland pace, though optional whale-watching trips from Mirissa can be arranged.

Is lunch included every day?

Breakfast is included daily at your hotel. Lunch is at your discretion except for Day 1 (welcome lunch on arrival) and Day 4 (village lunch in Dambulla after the Sigiriya climb and bullock cart ride). Dinner is not included, giving you freedom to explore local restaurants or eat at your hotel.
