Snorkeling in Fuerteventura: Sailing with dolphins and mantas
Take the helm of a sailing boat, snorkel in a secluded cove, and watch for dolphins and mantas from the open sea.
Snorkeling in Fuerteventura combines four hours of sailing, snorkeling and swimming in a small group of up to eight passengers. You'll handle the boat's rudder under the captain's guidance, explore a sheltered bay with clear emerald water where mantas and turtles often appear, and enjoy Spanish tapas and wine aboard. Hotel pickup and all snorkeling gear are included. Dolphins are sighted frequently but not guaranteed.
The Experience
The boat leaves Morrojable Marina after hotel pickup, and before you board the captain shows you a family of mantas swimming in the harbour. Once on deck, you get a safety briefing and the day's weather forecast, then take turns at the rudder of the sailing boat while the skipper handles the technical work. The boat stays limited to eight passengers, so there's room to move without crowds.
The snorkeling happens in a secluded area with emerald water where you'll swim and float with the provided equipment. Mantas and sea turtles are common in these waters, though sightings are not guaranteed. Binoculars stay on deck for spotting dolphins and whales during the sail itself. They're sighted frequently enough that the crew watches for them as part of the day. Between the water time and the sailing, you'll spend the afternoon moving between activity and rest.
Spanish tapas come out while you're on the water: goat cheese with guava jam and biscuits, tomato bread with olives and toasted spices, marinated anchovies and peppers, and chips. Wine, beer, cava and soft drinks flow throughout. The boat has a restroom on board, and the crew stays with you the whole time to handle navigation, safety and the details that let you focus on the water and the wildlife.
