The experience
The workshop starts at Mercado del Olivar, the largest traditional market in central Palma. You'll walk through the stalls with your guide, meet the vendors, and pick out some of the ingredients you'll use later. The market closes on Sundays and afternoons, so timing matters if you're planning around it.
Once you move to the atelier, the hands-on cooking begins. You'll prepare a complete seasonal menu together: local cold meats and artisan cheeses, Mallorcan flatbread with greens and raisins, artichokes and sobrasada meloso rice cooked in a clay pot, and gató, an almond cake, with almond ice cream. The guide works with small producers and farmers to source everything locally and sustainably, and will adapt the menu to any dietary requirements you mention when you book.
You eat what you've made, paired with two glasses of organic wine per person (wine is for ages 18 and up, younger participants get other drinks). At the end, you leave with the recipes and the ingredients you didn't use, so you can recreate the dishes at home and bring the taste of Mallorca back with you.

Top questions
What is Mercado del Olivar like, and how much time do we spend there?
Mercado del Olivar is the largest traditional market in central Palma, with stalls selling fruit, fish and other local delicacies. You'll spend about an hour walking through it with your guide, meeting vendors and sourcing some of the ingredients for the workshop.

Yes. Let the organizer know your dietary requirements when you book, and they'll adapt the menu and ingredients to accommodate your needs.
Do I get to keep the recipes and ingredients?
Yes. You take home the recipes and any ingredients left over from the workshop so you can replicate the dishes in your own kitchen.
Is wine included, and can everyone drink it?
Two glasses of organic wine per person are included with lunch. Wine is for ages 18 and up. Participants under 18 will have other drinks instead. Additional wine is available to purchase during the meal.
