The experience
The day splits between two halves of the island. You start in the south at El Golfo, where the Green Lake sits in a volcanic crater ringed by black sand, then move into Timanfaya National Park to see the geothermal experiments that prove the ground is still hot: 15 minutes of free time lets you explore on your own pace. From there you head north to Jameos del Agua, an underground cave system that opens into a saltwater lagoon, for a full hour inside. The route includes transit time for photos and a stop in Haría, one of the island's older towns.
A wine tasting in a local bodega rounds out the afternoon, giving you a taste of what Lanzarote produces. The guide speaks English, Spanish, French or German depending on which tour you book, and handles all the logistics: hotel pickup is included, so you don't arrange transport yourself. Infants and small children can bring a pram or use a specialized infant seat if needed.
