The experience
Five hours covers two landscapes that define Lanzarote's volcanic past. The bus picks you up from your hotel and takes you first to Timanfaya National Park, where the geothermal demonstrations at Islet of Hilario show you how intensely the ground still holds heat from eighteenth-century eruptions. You drive the famous Volcanoes Route through the park's black lava fields, then stop at Echadero de Camellos if you want to ride these animals across the volcanic terrain: a separate ticket, but a genuine draw for families.
La Geria follows, a protected wine region where farmers transformed wasteland left by those same eruptions into vineyards. The vines grow in volcanic craters, a method born of necessity that now produces some of Spain's most distinctive wines. You visit a traditional winery to taste the local Malvasia and see how growers adapted to the harsh volcanic soil. The tour runs in the morning or early afternoon, leaving time to explore other parts of the island afterward.
