Lanzarote tour: Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua & El Golfo
Four landmarks, one driver, no planning required
A full-day guided tour of Lanzarote covering El Golfo, Timanfaya National Park, a wine tasting and Jameos del Agua, with hotel pickup from three coastal towns and skip-the-line entry to both major sites. The tour runs eight to nine hours and includes a modern air-conditioned bus, an English-speaking guide, and entry to both parks; a camel ride at the park stop costs extra.
Step-by-step itinerary
Lanzarote full day excursion
- Visit El Lago Verde at El Golfo
- Stop at Camel Park for ride
- Explore Timanfaya National Park
- Enjoy free wine tasting
- Visit Jameos del Agua
The Experience
El Golfo comes first — the green lagoon formed by mineral-rich volcanic rock, roughly 25 minutes on the bus from pickup. From there the route heads to Timanfaya National Park, where you skip the entrance queue and spend about an hour and a quarter inside the volcanic landscape; the park's own bus takes you through the lava fields, and the driver explains what you're seeing. A wine tasting follows, roughly 20 minutes, before the afternoon moves to Jameos del Agua — an underground cavern system carved by lava tubes, with a saltwater lagoon and a small museum, about an hour to walk through at your own pace.
The guide speaks German or English depending on the group, and pickup happens from Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca — you choose your location at booking. The bus is modern and air-conditioned. A camel ride at the park stop is optional and costs six euros per person if you want it. The tour suits all fitness levels, though some walking is involved, and it runs only in good weather; if weather cancels the day, you can rebook or get a full refund.
Lunch is not part of the itinerary, so plan to eat before you leave or bring something with you. The Salinen Janubio salt flats and the Monumento al Campesino monument appear in the route description as transit stops with time for pictures, though the exact timing depends on how the day flows.

Is this one for you?Eight to nine hours is a full day, which means you won't have time for another major stop afterward — book this if you want to see Lanzarote's volcanic landmarks without splitting them across two days. The skip-the-line entry to both parks saves the queue time you'd spend if you went on your own.

El Golfo is a lagoon on Lanzarote's northwest coast where mineral deposits in the volcanic rock turn the water bright green. The tour visits it early in the day, spending about 25 minutes there before moving on to Timanfaya.
Do I have to wait in line at Timanfaya National Park?
No. The tour includes skip-the-line entry to Timanfaya, so you go straight in. Once inside, a park bus takes you through the volcanic landscape for roughly an hour and a quarter, and the guide narrates the route.
What happens at Jameos del Agua?
Jameos del Agua is a series of underground caverns formed by ancient lava tubes, with a natural saltwater lagoon and a small museum inside. You have about an hour to walk through it at your own pace.
Is the camel ride included?
No. The tour stops at a camel park, but the ride is optional and costs six euros per person if you choose to do it.
What time does the tour start and how long does it run?
Pickup happens from your chosen location — Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen or Playa Blanca — and the full tour runs eight to nine hours. The exact start time is confirmed at booking.
Is lunch included?
No. The tour does not include a meal, so you'll want to eat before departure or bring something with you.
