The experience
You start from your hotel and spend the morning moving through three distinct landscapes shaped by Lanzarote's volcanic past. The tour opens at the natural pools (calm, shallow water trapped between lava breakwaters where you can wade without waves), then climbs to the Mirador de Las Salinas de Janubio to look down at the largest salt flats in the Canary Islands. These lagoons were born when volcanic eruptions created a lava barrier in front of the sea. Salt production here was essential to the island's economy until recent decades, and the flats still operate today. You walk down to the salt ponds themselves and can browse the on-site shop for natural Janubio salt.
From there, the route moves to Janubio Beach, a black sand shore where lava rocks are studded with olivina: green crystals formed when molten rock cooled against the sea. Walking this beach is a quiet counterpoint to the morning's stops. You'll break for Canarian tapas and wine at Stop de Yaiza, a bar serving recipes from 1890 and house Malvasia Volcanica wines. This brunch is included. The final leg takes you into La Geria, the island's wine region, where farmers have carved terraces into volcanic ash and planted vines in the hollows: an ingenious and visually striking system. You visit a winery. A basic tasting is included, though a second wine tasting costs extra if you want it.
The group stays small by design, no more than eight people, so the pace is unhurried and the guide can answer questions as you move. A water cooler stays in the car throughout the day.

What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What are the natural pools like when I get there?
The natural pools are calm, shallow water trapped between lava breakwaters and solidified lava formations along the coast. Because the water is so still, they're a place to soak and relax rather than swim in waves. They're one of the stops early in the tour.
Can I buy salt at the Janubio salt flats?

What's included in the brunch stop?
Canarian tapas and wine are included at Stop de Yaiza, a bar serving traditional recipes from 1890 and house Malvasia Volcanica wines. This is your main meal break during the tour.
Do I have to pay extra for the wine tasting in La Geria?
A basic winery tasting is included. If you want a second wine tasting, it costs 2–5€ per person and is optional at checkout.
How does pickup work if I'm staying outside the main town?
Hotel pickup is included in the tour price. The guide will collect you from your accommodation. Confirm your hotel location when you book.
