PADI Advanced Diving Course Gran Canaria: 2-day, 5 dives
Master deep diving and navigation, then pick your own challenge dives
The PADI Advanced Open Water Course in Gran Canaria is a 2-day diving class where you complete 5 dives—two mandatory (deep dive to 30 meters and underwater navigation) and three you select from options like wreck diving, night diving, or boat diving. The course includes a professional guide, all equipment, tuition, certification, online study materials, and hotel pickup; children from age 10 are welcome, and guides speak English and Spanish.
The Experience
The course runs over 2 days and splits into two parts: the two core dives that build your advanced skills—a deep dive down to 30 meters and underwater navigation—and then three elective dives you choose based on what interests you. Want to explore a wreck, try night diving, or dive from the boat instead of the shore? You pick, and the guide works with you to set up the dives that match your goals. All five dives count toward your PADI Advanced Open Water certification.
Everything you need is provided: full diving equipment, tuition from a professional guide, the online study manual, your certification fee, and insurance. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included for selected hotels in the area. Before you dive, you'll complete a health questionnaire—some medical conditions like asthma or heart issues may prevent participation, so check with your doctor beforehand. You'll also need to bring evidence of your dive certification and the Adventures in Diving Crew pack (provided) and log book for recording your dives.
The course is based in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria, and runs in English or Spanish depending on your preference. Children from age 10 can participate if they meet the fitness and health requirements. Note that diving within 48 hours of flying is not recommended, so plan your travel accordingly.

What are the two mandatory dives in the advanced course?
The two core dives are a deep dive to 30 meters and underwater navigation. These form the foundation of your advanced certification and are completed on the first day.
Can I choose which three elective dives I do?
Yes—after the two core dives, you select three additional dives from options including wreck diving, night diving, and boat diving. The guide will discuss your interests and arrange the dives that suit you best.
What's included in the course price?
The course includes tuition, a professional guide, full equipment hire, insurance, your online study manual, certification fee, and hotel pickup and drop-off from selected hotels.
Do I need to have dived before to take this course?
Yes—evidence of dive certification is required from all participants. This is an advanced course, not a beginner certification, so you'll need to show your existing diving qualifications before booking.
Is this course suitable if I'm flying to Gran Canaria?
Diving within 48 hours of flying is not recommended due to decompression sickness risk, so plan to arrive at least two days before your course starts if you're traveling by air.
What age can children start this advanced course?
Children can participate from age 10, provided they meet the moderate fitness level required and pass the health questionnaire. Some medical conditions may prevent younger divers from participating safely.
