A 2-day PADI Scuba Diver Course in Gran Canaria teaches you to dive safely to 12 meters under instructor supervision. Day one covers confined water skills in a pool. Day two puts those skills into practice with two open water dives from a local beach. The course includes a professional guide and hotel pickup and drop-off at selected hotels. Children from age 10 are welcome, and the guide speaks English, Spanish, French, German and one additional language.

The experience

The course starts around 9am on day one in confined water: a pool where you learn the foundational skills without the variables of the ocean. You'll work through breathing techniques, mask clearing, buoyancy control and other essentials with an instructor watching every move. By 2pm you're done for the day, which gives you time to rest and absorb what you've learned before the real diving begins.

Day two takes you to one of Gran Canaria's beaches for two open water dives. The skills you practiced in the pool transfer directly: you'll descend, move through the water, and handle the small problems that come up. All under close supervision. The dives are designed to build confidence rather than test it. You're comfortable underwater by the end because you've had time to practice each skill before moving to the next one.

A professional guide leads both days and handles the logistics: hotel pickup, equipment setup, safety checks, everything. The course runs on a fixed schedule, so you know when to show up and when you'll be finished. All participants complete a health questionnaire before diving, and some pre-existing conditions may prevent you from taking part, so check with your doctor if you have concerns about asthma, heart conditions or similar issues.
