Discover Scuba Diving in Tenerife is a three-hour introduction to diving for anyone aged 10 and up with no prior experience. A PADI instructor teaches you basic skills and equipment use, then takes you underwater to explore Tenerife's seabed. The activity includes all gear, instruction, learning materials, insurance and local taxes. Guides speak English, Spanish or German.

The experience

What does it actually feel like to breathe thirty feet down? The Discover Scuba program answers that without locking you into a full certification course. You show up, meet your instructor, and spend the first part of the session on land learning how the equipment works and the handful of skills that keep you safe: how to clear your mask, how to equalize pressure, how to signal. Then you enter the water with your guide right beside you, moving slowly and stopping whenever you need to.

The three-hour window includes all of that instruction plus time underwater exploring what Tenerife's coast actually holds. You wear a full wetsuit, tank, buoyancy vest and fins. The operator provides everything. Your guide stays with you the entire time, watching your breathing and your comfort. The whole point is to find out if diving is something you want to pursue further, or to have done it once and carry that memory home.

You need to be at least 10 years old and able to set aside three hours. The activity is not recommended if you have spinal injuries, cardiovascular issues, or if you are pregnant. You should wait at least 12 hours after diving before flying. Public transportation runs near the meeting point, so you do not need a rental car to get there.
