Discover Scuba Diving is a beginner introduction to diving in Tenerife, taught by a PADI instructor in English, Spanish, Italian, French and other languages. You start with classroom instruction and equipment setup at the school, then boat out 15–20 minutes to the dive site, descend to 12 meters, and spend 45–50 minutes exploring underwater before returning to shore. The full experience, including paperwork and boat rides, takes around 3 hours, and you receive online certification at the end.

The experience

The day starts on land. You'll meet at the school, go through the paperwork, and spend 15 minutes learning the fundamentals from the book. Then comes a private briefing with your PADI instructor, where you'll go over the scuba equipment piece by piece: how to breathe from the regulator, how to move in the gear, what to do if something goes wrong. You'll dress in a wetsuit and fins, get your equipment fitted, and walk to the speedboat for a 15–20 minute ride out to the dive site, depending on water conditions.

Once in the water, you descend with your instructor to a maximum of 12 meters and spend 45–50 minutes exploring. This is where the classroom work becomes real: you practice the key skills you'll use on every dive, breathe underwater for the first time, and get a feel for moving around with full gear. Your instructor stays with you the entire time. The boat ride back takes another 15–20 minutes, and once you're ashore, you complete your online certification.

The whole package (school, boat, equipment, instructor, insurance and certification) is included. You don't bring your own gear or arrange transport to the site. The operator handles the logistics. Children from age 10 are welcome. Note that you cannot dive while wearing vision glasses. Contact lenses or diving without correction are your options.

How long does the whole thing take from start to finish?

The total duration is around 2.5 to 3 hours. This includes the classroom session and paperwork at the school, the boat ride out, the 45–50 minutes of diving, the boat ride back, and the time to get out of your gear.
