The Experience

The boat launches at Guaza Mountain, where 400-meter vertical cliffs rise straight from the water and hold nesting birds you'll spot on the way out. You're in a kayak with a professional guide, a life vest fitted, and the water ahead clear enough to see the bottom. The 3-hour tour moves along the coast in small groups — usually under a dozen people — which means the guide can actually watch for movement in the water and point things out before they're gone. Wetsuits are provided, snorkeling gear too, and there's a dry bucket lashed to your kayak for a phone or camera.

After paddling for about an hour, you stop in a cove to snorkel. The water is cold enough that the wetsuit matters, but clear, and the guide stays in the water with you the whole time. Sea turtles and dolphins aren't guaranteed — the tour is honest about that — but the 90% sighting rate is real; most days you'll see at least one or the other, often both. The turtles move slowly and don't mind the distance; dolphins are faster and less predictable, but they show up regularly enough that the guides know where to look.
