A basic diver course in Tenerife teaches you to dive through pool training and one ocean dive with a qualified instructor in a small exclusive group. The course runs 4 hours total. Guides speak English, Spanish, Italian or French. Children from age 10 are welcome, and all SCUBA equipment is provided.

The experience

The course starts on land with theory and pool practice, where you learn the fundamentals of breathing underwater and moving through water before anything else happens. Once you're ready, not before, you head to the ocean for one dive. That's when the marine life of Tenerife comes into view: you're exploring the highest marine biodiversity hotspot in Europe, not watching it from a boat or a video. The group stays small and exclusive, and the instructors are highly qualified.

You'll use full SCUBA equipment throughout, and it's all included. Snacks are provided during the session. The whole experience takes 4 hours from start to finish. A current valid passport is required on the day you dive, and you'll complete a health questionnaire before entering the water. Some medical conditions do prevent diving, so that step matters.
