Master real climbing skills on routes tailored to your pace and style

A six-hour beginner via ferrata course in Mojstrana teaches you to safely navigate two established climbs: Aljaževa pot (B difficulty) and Pot Mojstranských Veveric (C/D difficulty), with an expert guide, full technical equipment, and instruction tailored to your level. The course welcomes families and individuals from age 7, and flexible scheduling lets you choose when to start. By day's end, you'll have the skills and confidence to explore via ferratas independently.

The Experience

The course runs six hours and covers the essentials of via ferrata climbing in a hands-on setting. You'll learn how to use a harness, helmet, and via ferrata system safely; tie the knots and techniques that keep you secure on steep rock; and practice moving through sections that demand different strategies. Your guide (fluent in English, Spanish, German, Croatian and one additional language) tailors instruction to your pace and experience, so whether you're climbing for the first time or brushing up on technique, you move at a speed that builds real confidence rather than rushing through the basics.

The two ferratas in Mojstrana offer different terrain and difficulty. Aljaževa pot is the gentler introduction, graded B, where you'll apply what you've learned on a well-established route. Pot Mojstranských Veveric steps up the challenge to C/D difficulty, testing your newfound skills on steeper sections and more complex rock features. Both sit in the Julian Alps, so the views and the sense of accomplishment compound as you climb. All technical equipment (via ferrata system, climbing harness, helmet, cord with carabiner, and gloves) comes with the course, so you arrive ready to start.

A two-day option deepens the experience with additional climbs to practice and refine your technique across more varied terrain. Public transportation reaches the starting point, and if the day's route takes you to a neighboring village, transfer is included. The course suits families as well as solo climbers, welcoming participants from age 7 onward, and you'll leave with a gift and the practical knowledge to tackle via ferratas on your own.

What exactly is a via ferrata and how is it different from rock climbing?

A via ferrata is a protected climbing route using metal rungs, cables, and anchors bolted into the rock face. Unlike traditional rock climbing, which relies on finding natural holds, via ferrata gives you fixed equipment to clip into, making it safer and more accessible for beginners while still delivering the thrill and physical challenge of climbing steep Alpine terrain.

Do I need climbing experience to take this course?

No prior climbing experience is required. The course is designed for beginners and teaches you everything from how to wear and use a harness to the footwork and hand placement needed for different rock angles. Your guide adjusts the pace to your fitness level and comfort, so you build skills progressively across the day.

What's the difference between the two ferratas we climb?

Aljaževa pot (B difficulty) is the easier route and serves as your practice ground for the techniques your guide teaches in the morning. Pot Mojstranských Veveric (C/D difficulty) is steeper and more technical, letting you apply what you've learned on a more challenging climb that tests your newfound abilities and confidence.

What should I bring, and what's provided?

The course includes all technical equipment: harness, helmet, via ferrata system, cord with carabiner, and climbing gloves. Wear comfortable athletic clothing and sturdy closed-toe shoes with good grip. Bring water and snacks. Public transportation reaches the meeting point, and if the route extends to a neighboring village, transfer is included in the course.
