The Experience
How do you climb Slovenia's national symbol properly? You start early from Krma Valley with transport from Bled and an IFMGA-certified guide who knows the mountain intimately. The first day is a 6-hour hike through Triglav National Park's alpine meadows and past mountain huts, gaining 2,515 meters to reach Kredarica. You sleep there above the clouds, eat dinner at the hut, and wake ready for the summit push.
Day two starts in the early morning. You gear up with harness, helmet and via ferrata set, all included, and spend about 4 hours climbing the protected rock sections to the Aljaž Tower at 2,864 meters. The descent takes another 4 hours back down to Krma Valley, where transport returns you to Bled. Your guide carries the technical knowledge. You carry the memory and the summit photos to keep.
The climb demands moderate fitness and good hiking shoes (rentable at the office in Bled). Bring warm layers, a windproof jacket, sun protection, trekking poles if you want them, and enough water. Mountain hut accommodation and meals are optional and paid directly at the hut. Everything else (the guide, the via ferrata kit, the transport) is arranged.

Is this one for you? This climb suits anyone fit enough for several hours of steep hiking who wants to stand on Slovenia's highest peak with a guide who knows every meter of the mountain. The 2-day format lets you acclimatize at Kredarica before the technical summit push, making the via ferrata section manageable for climbers with moderate fitness and no prior rock climbing experience.

Top questions
Can children come?
13 to 17 years; 4 to 12 years; 1 to 3 years.
How fit do I need to be to summit Triglav?
Triglav requires at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The first day is 6 hours of hiking with elevation gain. The second day adds 4 hours of via ferrata climbing and 4 hours of descent. Your IFMGA guide will pace the climb to your ability, but you should be comfortable hiking for several hours on steep terrain.
What's the via ferrata section like on day two?
The via ferrata is a protected climbing route using fixed cables, rungs and anchors bolted into the rock. You wear a harness, helmet and lanyards clipped to the cable the whole way. It's steep and exposed but safe with proper gear. The guide leads and manages the technical sections.
Do I stay in a mountain hut overnight?
Yes. On day one you reach Kredarica hut at 2,515 meters and spend the night there. The hut provides a warm bed and dinner. Accommodation and meals cost around €47 per person and are paid directly at the hut when you arrive, not included in the tour price.
What's included in the climb from Bled?
Return transport from Bled, the IFMGA-certified guide for both days, harness, helmet and via ferrata lanyards, and summit photos are all included. You bring your own hiking shoes, warm clothes, sun protection and snacks. Water can be refilled at wells along the route or bought at the hut.
Can I do this climb if I'm pregnant or have a spinal injury?
This climb is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with a spinal injury. The via ferrata involves steep rock climbing with exposure and impact on the spine. The physical demands and altitude make it unsuitable for these conditions.
What's the difference between joining a group and booking a private tour?
You can join a regular group, take advantage of a special offer group rate, or book a private guide for just yourself or your party. All options include the same IFMGA guide, gear and itinerary. The private option gives you a dedicated guide and flexible timing.
