The Experience
You start in Bled and drive to Krma valley, where the actual climbing begins. From there, the first day is roughly 6 hours of hiking uphill through snow to reach Triglavski Dom na Kredarici: the only mountain hut open year-round in the Julian Alps, kept staffed for weather monitoring. The guide provides snowshoes or crampons depending on conditions, and you use them the whole way up. The hut sits at high altitude and has basic facilities: a warm meal, hot drinks, and a bed for the night. There's not much else, but that's the point. You're sleeping where the mountain is.
On day two, after breakfast, you prepare your gear and climb to Triglav's summit. The ascent takes about 2 hours depending on snow and weather. You get time at the top for photos and to look out over the Alps, then descend back down to Krma valley and return to Bled in the late afternoon. The guide is a certified IFMGA mountaineer who speaks English and will have assessed your fitness before you book to make sure you can handle the altitude gain and the physical demand of reaching a high peak in a single day.
Winter conditions mean you need moderate to good fitness and prior mountaineering experience or training. The guide will go over this with you before the trip. The climb is not recommended for travelers with cardiovascular concerns or pregnant travelers. What you get is the rare experience of summiting Slovenia's highest mountain in snow, sleeping in an alpine hut most people never reach, and doing it with someone who knows the route and the risks.

Operated by Altitude Activities
Is this one for you?The guide speaks English and will assess your fitness beforehand, so you need to be honest about your conditioning and any health concerns: the 6-hour first-day climb and high-altitude ascent on day two are not adjustable. If you have moderate fitness and can handle sustained uphill effort in snow, and you want to summit Slovenia's highest peak in winter conditions most people never attempt, this is the way to do it.
