The experience
Two days means you fit four major cities and two castles into a single trip without the rush of a day tour. The route starts south of Bucharest at Peles Castle, the Romanian royal family's summer residence and one of Europe's most visited palaces, then moves to Bran Castle (the fortress tied to the Dracula legend) before heading north to Brasov, a mountain city at 625 meters altitude that sits inside its own nature reserve on Mount Tampa. You overnight in Sighisoara, the medieval citadel built in 1280 and still inhabited after 700 years, so you arrive when day-trippers have left and the cobblestone streets and 14-meter stone walls belong to the town itself.
Day two takes you through Biertan, a fortified Saxon church from 1224 surrounded by three defensive walls and seven bastions, then into Sibiu for a city tour of the Evangelical Cathedral and the Great Square. The reason Sibiu was named European Capital of Culture. The route ends at Cozia Monastery, a 600-year-old fortress guarded on one side by the Olt river and on the other by Mount Cozia, where the monastery's spring and ancient walls frame what the itinerary calls the Garden of Eden. A private car carries only your group, and your guide handles all driving, speaks English, and can adjust the itinerary even after you start.
The tour includes accommodation for both nights, all car expenses (fuel, parking, tolls), and wireless internet in the vehicle. Entrance fees to the castles, cities and monastery, plus meals and drinks, are separate. The operator recommends hotels within your budget and books them for you. Minimum age is 18, and the guide is available in English, Spanish, Italian, French and six other languages.

Is this one for you?The two-day structure lets you see four cities and two castles without the compressed pace of a single-day tour, and the private car means your group travels together without joining strangers. If you want to explore Transylvania's medieval sites and castles in depth rather than hit highlights quickly, this pace and format work. If you prefer a faster loop or a smaller group experience, a day tour or a different itinerary may suit better.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew and Romanian.
What is Sighisoara like as a place to spend the night?
Sighisoara is a living medieval fortress, not a museum: people have inhabited the citadel for over 700 years, and it sits on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The cobblestone streets, gates and 14-meter stone walls remain intact, and staying overnight means you experience the town after the day-trippers leave and the medieval atmosphere settles in.
What makes Bran Castle worth seeing beyond the Dracula connection?
Bran Castle is Romania's most visited attraction and one of the most expensive venues in the world. The itinerary notes that most visitors come for the Dracula legend but leave with a history lesson. The castle itself is the reason it has become a symbol of Romanian tourism.
Can the itinerary be changed once the tour starts?
Yes, the tour includes great flexibility regarding changes to the daily itinerary even after the start, so if you want to spend more time at one stop or skip another, your guide can adjust the route on the day.
What is Cozia Monastery and why is it included?
Cozia Monastery has stood for over 600 years on a hillock guarded by the Olt river on one side and Mount Cozia on the other. The fortified walls protected against invaders in the past, and the site includes a natural spring called the monastery's "living water." It is one of the most important Romanian monasteries and closes out the two-day route.
