The experience

The tour starts with a 14:00 airport pickup at Bucharest Otopeni, then heads straight into the Carpathian Mountains. Day one ends at Peles Castle near Sinaia: a Neo-Renaissance fortress built between 1873 and 1914 that stands as Romania's most impressive castle. You'll see it from outside before settling into the House of Dracula Hotel 4* in Poiana Brasov for the night.

Day two is the core of the trip: three hours inside Bran Castle itself, the fortress tied to Bram Stoker's Dracula legend. After that comes lunch at a local restaurant in Brasov, then two hours walking the town's gothic, baroque and renaissance streets fringed by the Southern Carpathian peaks. The Black Church closes the afternoon: a 600-year-old hall-church, the largest east of Vienna, where you'll spend 30 minutes among one of medieval Europe's biggest ecclesiastical structures. You return to the same hotel for a second night.

Day three is a morning departure: breakfast, then a shared transfer back to Bucharest airport timed to your flight. If your schedule allows, there's an optional visit to the Bear Sanctuary Libearty on the way. The guide is English-speaking and specialized in the region's history. Transport runs by air-conditioned van, minibus or coach depending on group size. A minimum of two people per booking is required.
