Your day starts at Peleș Castle in Sinaia, the summer residence of Romania's royal family until 1948. An official historian leads the tour through the Neo-Renaissance rooms and grounds, explaining the architecture and the lives of the monarchy. The guide does not enter the castle with you. You move through it on your own schedule, taking time for the details and photographs that matter to you. After Peleș, you cross the border into Transylvania proper.

Bran Castle, the world-famous landmark tied to the Dracula legend, comes next. Before you enter, your private guide gives you the historical context: who Vlad the Impaler actually was, and how Bram Stoker's novel transformed him into myth. Once inside, the castle is yours to explore. You wander the secret staircases and towers without a guide trailing behind, without a group moving at someone else's pace. The freedom to linger in the Gothic chambers and eerie passages is the whole point.

The day ends in Brașov City, the crown jewel of Transylvania.
