The Experience

I’ll admit, I didn’t really know what to expect from a city tour of Doha. I’d seen those skyline photos online but standing there on the Corniche, with the sea breeze tangling my hair and the towers shining across the water, it hit different. We learned about pearl divers and Bedouin families; Khaled told us his grandmother used to trade wool at Souq Waqif “back when camels parked outside.” That made me laugh. By then I was tired but didn’t want it to end yet—you know that feeling? We piled back into the car (thank goodness for AC) and watched Doha slide by through dusty windows as Khaled pointed out his favorite shawarma spot—not on any map.
