Doha City Tour & Traditional Dhow Boat Ride: Land and Sea
Four hours covering Doha's souqs, cultural sites and the Corniche from a wooden dhow
A half-day tour of Doha combining guided city stops with a traditional dhow boat ride along the Corniche. You visit Souq Waqif, Katara Cultural Village and The Pearl-Qatar by vehicle, then board a wooden dhow for a 30-minute cruise past the West Bay skyline. An English-speaking guide, hotel or airport pickup, and a water bottle are included; the tour runs four hours and suits families, couples and solo travelers. Souq Waqif shops operate 10am to noon and 4pm to 10pm (Fridays afternoon only).

The Experience
The day starts with pickup from your hotel, airport or port, then moves into the city itself. You'll stop at Souq Waqif, the only traditional souq left in the Gulf—a restored marketplace where Bedouin traders once brought wool and livestock, now lined with shops, cafes and galleries built in restored Qatari architecture. From there the guide takes you to Katara Cultural Village, a site designed around traditional Qatari building styles with galleries, a theatre, gardens, two mosques and a beach area, then to The Pearl-Qatar, an artificial island spanning nearly four square kilometers that was the first land in Qatar available for foreign ownership.
The second half is the dhow boat ride. You board a traditional wooden vessel—the kind once used for pearl diving—and cruise eight kilometers along the Doha Corniche, the seven-kilometer waterfront promenade that runs along Doha Bay. From the water you see the West Bay skyline and the city from a perspective most visitors miss. The ride lasts 30 minutes and is the centerpiece of the tour's "land and sea" structure.
You can book this as a shared tour without a meal, or as a private tour with or without lunch included. The guide speaks English, the vehicle is air-conditioned, and children from age four are welcome—infants sit on an adult's lap. Dress code requires covering your knees and shoulders and avoiding see-through clothing. If you're timing a visit to Souq Waqif, note that most shops close between noon and 4pm on weekdays.

What exactly is Souq Waqif and why is it worth a stop on a Doha tour?
Souq Waqif is the only traditional souq remaining in the Gulf—a marketplace restored in 2004 using traditional Qatari architectural techniques. For centuries it served Bedouin traders bringing wool and livestock; today it's a working market with shops, restaurants and outdoor cafes where you can browse or simply watch the crowd pass by.
What will I see from the dhow boat during the Corniche cruise?
The dhow follows the Corniche for eight kilometers, giving you views of the West Bay skyline and Doha's waterfront from the water. The cruise lasts 30 minutes and uses a traditional wooden dhow, the type historically used for pearl diving in the Gulf.
Does the tour include pickup from Doha airport or my hotel?
Yes, pickup is included from your selected hotel, location or airport. The vehicle is air-conditioned and the driver will drop you back at the same location when the tour ends.
What's the difference between the shared tour and the private tour options?
The shared tour runs without a meal included. The private tour options let you book the same itinerary either with or without lunch, and you travel in a private vehicle with your own guide instead of joining other travelers.
Is Katara Cultural Village just a museum, or is there more to explore there?
Katara is a full cultural village with traditional Qatari architecture, galleries, a theatre, gardens, two mosques, a beach area and an amphitheater that blends Greek and Islamic design. Your guide leads you through the site, so you see the layout and purpose of each area rather than walking it alone.
What should I wear, and are there any restrictions I need to know about?
Cover your knees and shoulders regardless of gender, and avoid see-through clothing. Children from age four are welcome; infants sit on an adult's lap during the tour.
