Step-by-step itinerary

Doha city tour and dhow cruise

  • Visit Souq Waqif and Falco market
  • Explore Katara Cultural Village
  • See The Pearl-Qatar luxury island
  • Photostop at Lusail Marina Promenade
  • Enjoy a relaxing dhow boat cruise

The Experience

Your afternoon starts with a pickup from your hotel, then heads straight into Souq Waqif—the warren of spice and perfume stalls, traditional handicraft shops, and the animal market where horses and camels still trade hands. The guide walks you through the layout so you can browse without getting lost, and you'll see the famous Falcon market tucked inside. From there the vehicle takes you to Katara Cultural Village, a sprawling cultural hub where Qatar hosts festivals and exhibitions year-round; you'll see the amphitheater, opera house, mosque and sculpture gardens, plus restaurants serving food from around the world.

Next is The Pearl-Qatar, the artificial island built as a luxury development with private beaches, high-end apartments and showrooms, where you stop to photograph the modern waterfront. Then comes the Museum of Islamic Art, the I. M. Pei–designed building on the waterfront that holds centuries of Islamic ceramics, textiles, manuscripts and calligraphy. A photo stop at Lusail Marina Promenade rounds out the city portion, capturing the modern skyline and the Arabian Gulf. By late afternoon you're at the dhow dock for a 30-minute traditional boat cruise along the Corniche, sailing past Doha's skyline as it reflects off the water.

The shared option means you travel with other visitors; the private option is your own vehicle and guide. Either way, the air-conditioned transport and English-speaking guide handle the logistics, so you move between stops without arranging anything. Bottled water is provided, and the pace is built to fit the whole route into a half-day without rushing.

Top questions

What is Souq Waqif like, and how much time do you spend there?

Souq Waqif is Doha's traditional market, a maze of stalls selling spices, perfumes, handicrafts and livestock—including the famous Falcon market. Your guide takes you through the layout so you can browse the shops without getting lost; the time spent there is part of the four-hour tour, not a separate stop you control.

Does the tour include entry to the Museum of Islamic Art?

The Museum of Islamic Art is a photo stop during the tour, not a ticketed entry. You see the I. M. Pei building and its waterfront setting, but do not go inside the galleries.

What happens during the dhow boat cruise?

The dhow cruise lasts 30 minutes and sails along the Corniche, the waterfront promenade, giving you views of Doha's modern skyline reflected in the Arabian Gulf. It's a traditional wooden boat experience that connects you to Qatar's maritime heritage.

Is hotel pickup included, and does it work for both private and shared tours?

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included in both the private and shared options. The driver collects you from your hotel at the agreed time and returns you there after the cruise ends.

Can children and infants go on this tour?

Yes. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and infants must sit on an adult's lap. The tour is suitable for all fitness levels, and service animals are allowed.

What's the difference between the private and shared tour options?

The shared tour travels with other visitors in one vehicle; the private tour is your own vehicle and guide. Both follow the same route and stops, include the same guide language and inclusions, and take about four hours.
