You're picked up from your Cusco hotel between 3:30 and 5:00 a.m. and driven to Ollantaytambo station, where you board the panoramic train to Aguas Calientes. Your guide meets you at the Aguas Calientes station with a sign bearing your name, then coordinates the bus ride up to the site and your entrance time.
