The experience
The tour starts with a morning pickup from Iquitos airport or your hotel, then moves straight into the rhythm of the river. You'll visit Nanay Market to see how locals source Amazonian ingredients and crafts, take a wildlife boat excursion to spot exotic birds and river creatures, and reach Monkey Island to watch rehabilitated monkeys in their sanctuary. By afternoon you're on the water watching pink river dolphins move through their habitat, then swimming in the Amazon itself before nightfall brings a nocturnal jungle hike where insects, amphibians and night-active creatures emerge around you.
Days two and three split between Maniti Eco-Lodge and a camping night at Mirador Palo Alto, a jungle viewpoint where you set up camp after a guided hike. The rhythm stays the same: sunrise boat excursions to catch birds and mammals waking up, afternoon piranha fishing using traditional local techniques, visits to Victoria Regia (the world's largest freshwater aquatic plant), and night boat rides where you navigate by starlight to spot caimans, frogs and other creatures active in the dark. The lodge itself has a 22-meter swimming pool, WiFi available 24/7, and hammock rooms for rest between excursions.
The final morning brings a sunrise over the Amazon, a jungle hike through the vibrant plant and animal life, and a visit to the towering Ceiba trees: some of the oldest and largest in the rainforest. You'll then cruise the river, stop at a village to learn about local culture and traditions, and return to Iquitos by afternoon. All local transportation, meals, equipment and guided excursions are included. You choose between the standard tour or add a zipline excursion at checkout.
