The experience
You arrive in Iquitos and get picked up at the airport for the journey to Brisa Tropical Eco-Lodge, your base for the week. From there, each day branches into the rainforest by boat and on foot: mornings start with sunrise excursions on the Amazon River hunting for macaws, herons, and the pink river dolphins that give the tour its draw. The dolphins are real animals, not a guarantee, but the guides know where they congregate and what time they hunt. You'll also hike beneath the Ceiba tree (towering and sacred to indigenous cultures), and spend nights listening to the jungle's nocturnal symphony from your private bungalow.
The cultural strand runs through the middle days. You visit the Yagua tribe, where you learn to use a blowgun and watch traditional body-paint ceremonies. You fish for piranhas in the river and the chief cooks your catch for lunch. A separate stop at Yanayacu Timicuro Village, a mestizo community, introduces you to traditional medicines and spiritual practices rooted in the rainforest. On day three, you have the option to camp overnight in Mirador Palo Alto, a jungle observation house, or return to the lodge: the choice shapes whether you want the immersion or the comfort of a bed with a bathroom.
The final days push deeper: Monkey Island holds the world's smallest monkey species and a three-level observation tower; a remote lake visit targets hundreds of rare Hoatzin birds; the historical districts of Indiana and Mazan round out the cultural picture before a final morning wildlife watch and the boat ride back to Iquitos. Meals, purified water, coffee, and tea come with you every day; your guide speaks English and Spanish; rubber boots in all sizes are provided. The week ends with airport or hotel drop-off.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (5 to 12 years). Children under 5 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What are the pink river dolphins actually like when you see them?
Pink river dolphins are large, playful freshwater dolphins found only in the Amazon and Orinoco rivers. They hunt at dawn and dusk, often working together to herd fish. Sightings are not guaranteed, but the guides know their feeding patterns and take you out at the times they're most active. They're known for their intelligence and curiosity around boats.
Do I need to be an experienced hiker to do the jungle walks?
The jungle walks are suitable for all physical fitness levels according to the operator. The hikes explore rainforest trails at a pace that lets you observe wildlife and learn about the flora and fauna. They're not technical climbs. Rubber boots in various sizes are provided to handle wet terrain.
Can I really swim with the pink dolphins, or is that just marketing?
Swimming with pink dolphins is listed as optional on the dolphin-watching adventure and depends on the dolphins' behavior and safety conditions on the day. Sightings themselves are not guaranteed, so swimming is even less certain. The guide will assess whether it's safe and possible when you encounter them.
What's the difference between staying at the lodge and camping in the jungle house on night three?
The jungle house at Mirador Palo Alto is an optional overnight stay in a satellite observation structure deep in the rainforest, letting you fall asleep and wake to the sights and sounds of the jungle without a lodge around you. The lodge offers private bungalows with in-room bathrooms. Both are included in the tour price. You choose which night you prefer.
