The experience
Three days gives you time to move through different landscapes without rushing. Day one takes you east along the coast to Bimmah Sinkhole and Fins Beach, then inland to Wadi Shab, where a short walk leads to crystal-clear blue pools and a waterfall inside a cave. You overnight at Turtle Beach Resort near Ras Al Hadd, close to where the day ends.
Day two shifts inland and south. You visit Sur's Dhow Factory to watch traditional wooden boats being built, then drive to an Omani Ghazal Farm to see local livestock. Wadi Bani Khalid comes next: one of Oman's largest wadis, where you can swim in emerald pools or walk the canyon floor. By afternoon you reach Wahiba Sands desert, where a 4WD drive across the dunes leads to a sunset viewpoint on the high sand, followed by dinner and a campfire at Desert Rose Camp.
Day three starts before dawn with a desert sunrise, then heads west toward Nizwa. You tour Nizwa Fort, a military stronghold now a museum with views over the old capital and surrounding mountains, and browse Nizwa Souk's jewelry, pottery and local goods. The route then climbs to Jebel Akhdar, the Green Mountain, where rose gardens and fruit plantations cover the hillsides and valley views open across the terrain. A UNESCO-listed irrigation system at Al Kattmyn sits on the way up. You return to Muscat by evening.
