You meet your guide at Café France on Jemaa el-Fna square, where he gives you a brief overview of what the day holds. From there, you walk to the Koutoubia Mosque, the 12th-century landmark that has stood as the city's guardian for centuries through dynasties and decline. The mosque itself is not entered on this tour, but you see its scale and hear its history from someone who knows the city as a local, not as a script.

The Saadian Tombs come next—a 16th-century royal cemetery where kings who defended the kingdom are buried in tombs built to match their status. You also visit a traditional Berber pharmacy tucked into the Medina, then move into the narrow streets themselves.
