The experience
Casa Cenote sits in Tulum's limestone landscape, a freshwater sinkhole ringed by mangroves where you can see both the cenote's rock walls and the natural life around them. The half-day session starts on land with a short theory class covering the basics of breathing underwater and how your equipment works. You then enter the shallow end to practice the skills you'll need (equalizing pressure, clearing your mask, moving with fins) before the guide takes you down into the cenote's clear water for the actual dive.
The cenote dive itself is the core of the experience: you descend with your guide through water you can see through, moving past the formations that make Casa Cenote a distinctive site in the region. All equipment (wetsuit, tank, regulator, mask, fins) is provided and fitted to you. The session runs about four hours total, which includes the time on land, the practice in shallow water, and the guided dive itself.
If four hours and one cenote dive is not enough, you can add a second dive on a Caribbean reef for an extra cost. That upgrade takes you from the freshwater cenote to the ocean, a different underwater landscape and a different set of marine life. The choice between sticking with the cenote or adding the reef dive is yours at checkout.
