Paddleboarding and exploring Casa Cenote

  • Meet your certified guide Roberto
  • Paddleboard in crystal clear waters
  • Discover reef and underwater environment
  • Explore mangroves and wildlife
  • Swim in the cenote

The experience

Three to four hours on the water starts with pickup from your hotel and a short ride to Casa Cenote, an uncrowded bay ringed by mangroves where the reef sits close enough to see from your board. You paddle out on clear water that lets you watch the underwater world without leaving the surface: fish, coral, and the ecosystem moving beneath you as you move across it. The cenote itself is where you leave the board and swim, floating in water so transparent that depth disappears.

Roberto, your guide, is a native of the Mayan region and a certified guide with years leading small groups through these waters. He speaks English, Spanish or Italian, and he knows which corners of the cenote hold birds, which passages open into mangroves, and how to keep the group small enough that you're not paddling in a crowd. The tour includes snorkelling gear and a snack, so you're not hunting for either one partway through the morning.

This works whether you've never stood on a paddleboard or you're chasing a specific cenote experience. The shallow, clear water means stability comes early, and the guide adjusts the pace to the group: no one is racing. If you're comfortable in the water and want to move at your own speed, this is the format for it.

Is this one for you?You paddle and snorkel on your own: the guide leads the group and sets the pace, but you're in the water doing the activity, not watching it from a boat. Small groups mean you're never crowded, and the shallow cenote water makes paddleboarding accessible whether this is your first time or your tenth.

Casa Cenote is an uncrowded bay near Tulum where a reef sits close to the surface and mangroves line the shore.
