Bats hang from the ceiling of an air dome you'll surface inside mid-dive.

Dos Ojos cenote dive is a two-dive cavern experience in the Riviera Maya for certified Open Water divers with at least 20 logged dives and diving within the past six months. You explore the Barbie Line, known for stalactites and crystal-clear water, and the Bat Cave, where you surface inside a massive air pocket filled with hundreds of bats. Both dives stay within the cavern zone, daylight visible from the entrance, and reach a maximum depth of 25 feet. The experience includes all scuba equipment, cenote entry, round-trip transport from the dive center, and a meal.

The experience

Dos Ojos, meaning "Two Eyes," sits in the jungle near Tulum and consists of two large circular cenotes. The dive center will fit you with your scuba gear before heading into the jungle to the site. Once there, your dive professional briefs you on the routes before you enter the water. Each dive lasts approximately 45 minutes and reaches a maximum depth of 25 feet, so the full experience takes about five hours from start to finish.

The Barbie Line is famous for its natural light effects filtering through the water and the stalactites, stalagmites and columns that line the route. The Bat Cave offers something entirely different: partway through the dive, you surface inside a huge air dome where hundreds of bats hang from the ceiling and fly overhead. Both are cavern dives, meaning you stay in the zone where daylight is visible from the entrance, not in the deeper cave passages. The combination of incredible visibility, jungle scenery and these two distinct underwater environments is what makes Dos Ojos stand out among cenote dives in the region.

Your guide speaks English, Spanish or French. The package includes all scuba equipment, cenote entrance fees, round-trip transport from the dive center to the cenote, and a meal of freshly made sandwich, granola bar, fruit and drinking water. You must be a certified Open Water diver with a minimum of 20 logged dives and have dived within the past six months to participate. If you haven't dived recently, the operator offers a separate Casa Cenote + Dos Ojos experience instead.
