ATV Riding in Cozumel: Eastern Coast & Beach Club
Throttle across sand and limestone instead of watching from a bus seat
ATV riding in Cozumel combines five hours of off-road riding along the eastern coast with stops at Mezcalitos, the Mayan ruins of Haanan, and Playa Uvas Beach Club, where lunch, snorkeling equipment and a tequila tasting are included. Round transportation from designated cruise ship locations and a live guide in English or Spanish are part of the booking. Children from age 7 can ride; the tequila tasting is for adults 18 and older only.
Step-by-step itinerary
ATV adventure and beach club visit
- Ride ATV along eastern coastline
- Relax at Mezcalitos beach
- Explore Haanan Mayan ruins
- Enjoy lunch at Playa Uvas Beach Club
- Optional guided snorkeling session
The Experience
You operate the ATV yourself—no guide steering while you watch. The ride follows Cozumel's eastern shoreline, where the terrain shifts between sand and limestone as you accelerate past secluded beaches and the Caribbean breaking against the rocks. The engine noise and the salt air are the backdrop; the moment is yours to control. Most of the five hours goes to transport between sites and the ride itself, so the pace is built around getting you to the water and the ruins without rushing the driving part.
Mezcalitos is a small, undeveloped beach where you step off the ATV and walk the sand—no facilities, no crowds, just the option to sit and look at the water before moving on. The Mayan ruins at Haanan come next, where a guide walks you through the stone structures and explains what you're standing in front of. Then you arrive at Playa Uvas Beach Club for lunch: authentic Mexican food, bottled water, and the beach club's amenities while you're there. If you want to snorkel after eating, the equipment and a guided session in the reef are included; it's optional, so you can skip it and rest instead.
The tequila tasting happens at the beach club and is only for travelers 18 or older—anyone younger stays with the group but doesn't participate in that part. Round-trip transport picks you up from a designated location near the cruise terminal and brings you back in time for your ship. The guide speaks English or Spanish depending on which option you book. Riders need at least moderate fitness; the activity is not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want to ride instead of sit—you control the ATV and the pace along the coast, which is what makes the five hours feel like an adventure rather than a tour. The snorkeling and lunch at the beach club give you time to recover between the riding and the ruins, so the day doesn't feel like one long push.

Can I ride an ATV if I've never done it before?
Yes. The activity is designed for riders of all experience levels, and the guide will give you instruction before you start. You need at least moderate physical fitness to handle the terrain and the five-hour day, but prior ATV experience is not required.
Is snorkeling really included, or do I have to pay extra?
Snorkeling is included: the equipment, the guided session in the reef, and access to the water are all part of the booking. It happens at Playa Uvas Beach Club after lunch and is optional—you can choose not to snorkel and rest at the beach instead.
What's the age rule for kids, and can they ride their own ATV?
Children from age 7 can participate in the tour and ride their own ATV. The tequila tasting at the end is only for travelers 18 and older, so younger riders will be with the group but won't participate in that part.
Do I need to arrange my own way to the meeting point, or is pickup included?
Round-trip transportation from designated cruise ship locations is included in the booking. You don't need to arrange your own transport to the starting point or back to your ship.
