The experience
Can you see wildlife in the middle of a city? This tour answers that question in Nairobi National Park, which sits within the city limits. After pickup, you spend roughly four hours on a game drive in a 4WD vehicle with a guide who speaks English, Spanish or French. The park holds four of the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino) along with zebras, impalas, baboons, hippos and dozens of bird species. Because it is a half-day drive, your guide also takes the vehicle down into the Mbagathi River to search for crocodiles and stops to view the Morkoyiet Valley, two moments most half-day tours skip.
From the park, you drive 15 minutes to the Giraffe Centre, where you feed the giraffes by hand and take photos with them. The guide walks you through how different giraffe species adapt to their environment. The whole experience (park, river, valley, giraffes) fits into about five hours. You travel in an air-conditioned 4WD, drink bottled water included with the tour, and the entrance fee to the Giraffe Centre is paid by credit card on your behalf. WiFi is available in the vehicle.
