The Experience

The tour starts at Amman airport with a meet-and-assist and transfer to your hotel, where the driver briefs you on the five days ahead. Day two takes you through Amman's Theatre and Citadel, then to Jerash—a walled Greco-Roman settlement from the Bronze Age—before heading south to Petra. You stay at a 4-star hotel each night except for one night camping in Wadi Rum, and breakfast and dinner are included throughout.

Petra, one of the seven wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site, gets a full day. A local guide meets you to explore the Rose City, built by the Nabateans over 2,000 years ago; you ride a horse through the Siq canyon to reach the Treasury (Al Khazneh), the carved facade that defines the site. In the afternoon you drive to Wadi Rum, the red desert landscape in the far south where Bedouin tribes live. You spend the night at a camp there and get a two-hour jeep tour of the mountains, Lawrence of Arabia cave and the dunes.

On day four you leave Wadi Rum early, stop at Madaba to see the 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, then drive to Mount Nebo—an elevated ridge 710 metres above sea level where Moses was shown the Promised Land. In the afternoon you reach the Dead Sea, where the water and mud have been recognized for their healing properties since Biblical times; you swim, float and have lunch by the shore before returning to Amman for dinner. The final morning is a transfer back to the airport after breakfast.
