The experience
The Roman Theater sits at the foot of Mount Jufa, built in 130 AD when Emperor Antonius Pius visited Amman. It's one of the first things most tours hit because it's downtown and the scale of it stops you. From there, the route climbs to the Citadel on Jabal al-Qala, one of Amman's seven hills, where the Umayyad Palace and the Jordan Archaeological Museum sit among ruins that trace back through Byzantine, Roman, Greek, and Ammonian rule. The Citadel is where the city's power lived for centuries.
King Abdullah Mosque, built in the 1980s as a memorial by King Hussein, is open to non-Muslim visitors and worth the stop for the architecture alone. The blue dome is 35 meters high, the interior is octagonal with no pillars, and the suspended chandelier holds 168 lanterns. Downtown Amman and the Al-Husseini Mosque come next, then the Jordan Archaeological Museum if your option includes it, and the Royal Automobile Museum if time allows: a collection of rare classic cars and motorbikes that belonged to the Jordanian royal family, with narration in five languages. The route is flexible: you can book a half-day, a full day, or a nonstop run through the highlights.
Transportation is private, so you don't share the vehicle or the pace. The driver handles navigation and can speak your preferred language depending on availability. All areas are wheelchair accessible, and the vehicle itself is air-conditioned and equipped for infants and small children.
What’s included
- Private transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle.
- driver service for the duration of your chosen option.
