The experience
The Roman Theater of Amman opens the day: a 2,000-year-old amphitheater that once held over 5,000 spectators and still hosts performances today. From there, the Citadel sits on a hill overlooking the city, layered with Roman, Byzantine and early Islamic ruins that mark Amman's role as ancient Rabbath-Ammon. The views alone frame the scale of what you're moving through, not a single era, but centuries stacked into one landscape.
The Yardenit baptismal site on the Jordan River is where the tour shifts from archaeology to pilgrimage. The river flows through the plains of Jericho, and this is the traditional spot where John the Baptist baptized Jesus two thousand years ago. Christian travelers come here to enter the water themselves. Others stand on the banks and absorb the weight of the place. It's a sacred site and a working one, not a museum.
The Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, closes the loop. The region holds Old Testament and New Testament history in its geography: Bethany-Beyond-the-Jordan at the northern end, and archaeological sites tied to the story of Lot in the south. If your option includes the Dead Sea resort, you swim in the mineral-heavy water and eat lunch there. The whole tour runs ten to eleven hours. Your driver speaks English and handles all the driving. Water and WiFi on the vehicle are included. Entry tickets and the resort meal are separate choices you make at checkout.

Top questions
What is the Roman Theater of Amman like when you arrive?
The Roman Theater of Amman is a 2,000-year-old amphitheater built to seat over 5,000 people and still used today for theater events and performances. You visit it early in the tour as the entry point into Amman's layered history.
Can you actually swim in the Dead Sea on this tour?
Swimming is included only if you book the all-inclusive option, which adds the Dead Sea resort visit with entry and lunch. On the transportation-only option, you see the Dead Sea but do not enter the water.
What does the Citadel of Amman show you?
The Citadel sits on a hill and contains Roman, Byzantine and early Islamic ruins from when the site was ancient Rabbath-Ammon. It gives you both archaeological remains and panoramic views of the entire city and surrounding area.
Is Yardenit the only place you stop to see the Jordan River?
Yardenit is the baptismal site where the tour focuses on the Jordan River. Bethany-Beyond-the-Jordan, another significant site on the river's northern end, is part of the Dead Sea region you visit later in the day.
Where do you eat on this tour?
A meal at a local, off-the-beaten-track restaurant is included in the tour experience. If you book the all-inclusive option, lunch is also provided at the Dead Sea resort.
