The experience

The boat picks you up at whichever port suits your stay (Sorrento, Capri or Positano), and the route is yours to shape. Most days start with the Blue Grotto, the island's signature sea cave where the water glows electric blue. You take a small wooden boat inside to see it up close, and entry to the grotto itself costs €14 per person. From there, the skipper can take you to the Green Grotto, where the seabed and rock walls shift through shades of green, or to the Faraglioni: the three limestone stacks that rise from the water off Capri's eastern shore. You decide how long to stay at each one.

Swimming happens on your schedule. The boat carries snorkeling gear, and you can drop anchor and jump in as many times as you want during the day. A fresh-water shower rinses off the salt, and the skipper serves an aperitif, snacks and soft drinks while you're aboard. The 2025 boats have a large awning for shade and a Bluetooth stereo, so the hours move at whatever pace feels right. If you want to step ashore, the skipper can drop you in Capri's town center for lunch or shopping on Via Caramelle, or you can visit the Gardens of Augustus or Mount Solaro on your own.

Your skipper speaks English, French, Italian or Spanish and handles all the navigation and boat handling. The tour runs anywhere from three hours to a full day depending on what you want to see and how long you want to swim, and you're never rushed through a cave or a stop. Infants travel free on an adult's lap.
