The tasting teaches you to recognize flavors and match wines to food; dinner puts that knowledge to work. Pickup and transport are not included, so you'll need your own way to the villa or arrange it separately.

The Experience

The sommelier is already pouring when you arrive at SiChef Villa — a white wine first, pale and waiting in the glass. You'll taste four wines total: one white and three reds that shift from ruby to deep garnet, each one different enough that you'll start to notice what you're actually tasting instead of just drinking. The sommelier walks you through the tannins, the fruit notes hiding underneath, the spice and leather and tobacco that live in the wine if you know where to look. It's not a lecture; it's more like someone who knows the thing really well explaining it to you while you're holding the glass.

Between the tasting and dinner, the sommelier talks about pairing — which wines go with which foods, and why. It's practical stuff: what works with local dishes, what doesn't, how a wine changes when you eat something alongside it. The Chianti region has been doing this for centuries, so the knowledge isn't abstract; it's built into the place. After the tasting winds down, you move to dinner at the villa itself, surrounded by the Tuscan hills.
