Step-by-step itinerary

Explore Ubud highlights and nature

  • Visit sacred monkey forest
  • Trek Tegalalang rice terraces
  • View Batur Volcano at Kintamani
  • Visit Tirta Empul holy spring temple
  • See Tegenungan waterfall

The Experience

The 15-seat van picks you up from your hotel and heads straight into Ubud's main sights. Your first stop is the Sacred Monkey Forest, a 12.5-hectare sanctuary where around 700 Balinese long-tailed macaques live among three temples. You walk the forest paths and watch the monkeys move through daily life in the shade. The guide explains how the animals coexist with the sacred spaces, and you see the temples they inhabit.

From there, a short trek takes you into Tegalalang village to the rice terraces—the stacked green slopes that define the landscape. You watch local farmers at work in the paddies, and the guide points out how the irrigation system has shaped this terrain for centuries. The van then climbs to Kintamani, where you stop at a viewpoint overlooking Mount Batur and Batur lake. The air cools as you gain elevation, and this is where lunch happens—a local buffet served at the stop, so you eat with the volcano in view. After lunch, the route descends to Tirta Empul, a temple built around natural spring water. You see Balinese worshippers performing ritual blessings in the pools before they pray at the main shrine. The final stop is Tegenungan waterfall, surrounded by green forest. You can walk down to the water or stay at the upper viewpoint; either way, the fresh air and the sound of falling water mark the end of the day before the van returns you to your hotel.

The van is air-conditioned and holds up to 15 people, so families and small groups travel together without splitting up. Bottled water is provided throughout the day. The guide speaks English and stays with the group for all five stops, explaining what you're seeing at each one. The eight-hour itinerary is fixed, so timing and transport are arranged—you don't coordinate pickups or plan the route yourself.

What’s included

  • The tour includes private air-conditioned van transport for the full eight hours.
  • pickup from your hotel.
  • bottled water throughout the day.
  • a local buffet lunch at the Kintamani stop.
