The Experience
The day starts with pickup from your hotel and a drive into the Balinese countryside, away from the main tourist routes. You'll visit Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, which floats on a lake, then move inland through the jungle toward Mt. Batukaru's tropical foothills to reach the Jatiluwih rice terraces—emerald-green stepped fields that UNESCO recognizes as a cultural landscape. The scale of the terraces and the work visible in them is the kind of thing that stops you mid-walk.
From there, you continue to Taman Ayun Temple, an ancient royal temple and garden that belonged to the Menguwi Kingdom, before heading back toward the coast. Lunch—a buffet meal—is included partway through the day. Your guide drives a private air-conditioned vehicle and speaks your language, so the stops and the route make sense as you go, not after the fact.
The tour ends at Tanah Lot Temple, an ancient Hindu temple built on the sea, timed so you arrive for sunset.
