The experience

Four to five hours from pickup at your hotel to drop-off means a half-day commitment that leaves the rest of your day open. You'll ride in an air-conditioned minivan to the base camp near Ubud in Bongkasa, where you meet your guide and get time to practice on the ATV before the actual ride starts. Safety equipment comes with the bike, and the guide rides with the group to show you the route.

The trails themselves move through jungle, bamboo forest and rice paddies: the rural interior that sits worlds apart from the beach resorts on the coast.
