The experience
Six to eight hours means you move through five major stops without rushing. The tour begins at your hotel and heads first to Umaid Bhawan Palace, built in 1943 as one of the world's largest royal residences. You walk through the museum to see vintage cars, clocks and royal artifacts displayed across rooms of golden sandstone, then stroll the palace gardens. The scale and the photographs alone justify the stop. The palace sits on a rise with views back over the city.
Mehrangarh Fort comes next, built 400 feet up on a hill overlooking the Blue City. You climb through massive courtyards and intricately carved passages, see the fort's museum of weapons and paintings, and stand on the ramparts where the light shifts across Jodhpur's blue-painted houses below. Jaswant Thada follows: a white marble cenotaph surrounded by gardens and a small lake, built to honor Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. The marble glows in sunlight and the space is quiet enough to sit. Mandore Garden, an older royal retreat, holds cenotaphs of earlier rulers, temples and the Hall of Heroes. It is green and less crowded than the main monuments. The day ends in the Old City at Ghanta Ghar, the Clock Tower in the heart of the bazaar, where you browse spices, textiles, handicrafts and Bandhani sarees in the stalls, and can eat street food if time allows.
A guide travels with you the whole time, speaking English, Spanish, Italian, French or one additional language. The car is private to your group. Bottled water is provided. Entry fees to Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace and Jaswant Thada are not included and vary by nationality: roughly ₹600 for foreign visitors at the fort, ₹100 at the palace, ₹50 at Jaswant Thada, with lower rates for Indian tourists. The tour suits all fitness levels. Families with infants can bring a stroller.
What’s included
- Hotel pickup and drop-off.
- bottled water throughout the day.
- all fees and taxes for the tour itself (entry fees to monuments are separate and paid on-site).

Mehrangarh Fort sits 400 feet high on a hill overlooking Jodhpur. You walk through massive courtyards and passages with intricate carved walls, see the museum's collection of royal weapons and paintings, and stand on the ramparts looking out over the city's blue-painted houses.
