The experience

You get picked up from your hotel or any location in Jaipur and travel in a private air-conditioned car with a guide who speaks English or Spanish. The tour runs three to four hours and covers the highlights: Hawa Mahal, the five-story Palace of Winds with its 953 small windows; Amber Fort, where you'll see the architecture and views over Maota Lake; Jal Mahal, a photo stop at the palace in the middle of Man Sagar Lake; and Jagat Shiromani Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna. Because it's private, you're not waiting for other groups or moving on someone else's schedule.

The guide provides context at each site: the history, the significance, why the buildings were designed the way they were. You'll do a fair amount of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.
