The experience

You're picked up from your Jodhpur hotel, airport, train station or bus station around 2 pm and driven by private car to Osian. Before the camel safari starts, you have time to visit the Sachiya Mata Temple on your own. It's known for its vast expanse of intricately carved marble. Once you reach the desert camp, you'll rest for an hour or two, then head out for the camel ride itself. Expect to spend one to two hours in the saddle as you cross the Thar Desert, timing the ride to catch the sunset when the light shifts across the sand and sky.

Back at camp, you'll watch Rajasthani folk dance and music performed in the evening, then have dinner. You'll sleep in a Swiss tent on a double or twin bed, and breakfast is served the next morning before your private car takes you back to Jodhpur. The return journey includes a 1–2 hour stop, then drop-off at your hotel, airport, train station or bus station.
